If you'll be taking other courses in addition to a field-based block, look over the schedule of classes before submitting your block application so that you can base your block preference around your other course days/times to avoid a scheduling conflict. 

i.e., if you need ENG 3340 and the only section offered is on Monday mornings, you would need to request a Tuesday/Thursday block so that those courses don't interfere with each other

Spring Field Experience (Block) Schedule

You can refer to the drop-down menus at the bottom of this page for a list of the block placements that exist and their days/times/locations.  You'll need to keep this information in mind when you indicate your placement preferences on the block application.  

Mark your Calendar

Priority Applications: Friday, September 18 (noon) - Friday, October 2 (11:59pm) 
Students who apply during this window will hear back about their application status and placement before the start of registration. 
 

2nd Wave of Applications: Saturday, October 3 - Monday, November 30
These applications will be reviewed on an individual rolling basis but aren't guaranteed placement before the start of registration; students waiting to hear their placement status should proceed with registering for any non-block courses they have planned at their earliest access opportunity.
 

Placement Not Assured: Tuesday, December 1 - Start of Spring Classes
Applications submitted after the fall semester has ended will be considered, but placement may not be assured due to limited capacities at Texas State's partnering ISD campuses.

Looking to apply for Early Childhood Education (ECE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) Blocks?

These blocks no longer require submission of a block application. Eligible students can register for those experiences independently using the registration system. Reminder, ECE 3610 requires co-enrollment in CI 4345.

      Depending on your catalog, some SPED students will not need to enroll in RDG 3323.  Refer to your degree audit, or advisor for guidance. 

      Only Secondary double majors graduating in Fall 2027 will take RDG 3323. Secondary double majors graduating in Spring 2028 or later will only take CI 4370 + CI 4372.

      Graduate students can request placement at Canyon High School or San Marcos High School
