  • "How did they not know that assignment was due? It’s in the syllabus!"

Starting out in the classroom comes with a lot of questions—this session is here to help you tackle them with confidence. Join us to discover the easy button for a smoother and more rewarding start to the semester.

This session supports faculty serving as peer teaching evaluators in alignment with university policy for promotion of non-tenure line faculty outlined in AA/PPS No. 04.02.21. Peer teaching evaluations are conducted by faculty chosen by and at the discretion of departmental/school personnel committees and are a key component of the promotion packet for non-tenure line faculty seeking promotion. The session will clarify expectations for evaluators selected by personnel committees. Attendees will learn best practices for assessing teaching effectiveness, and gain strategies to ensure fair, rigorous, and constructive evaluations.

While all faculty are welcome to attend, this session is tailored to those conducting teaching evaluations of non-tenure line faculty seeking promotion.

If you missed our original session on non-tenure line promotion in May, you may refer to this FAQ document from the session for information on the promotion process. Another session on the non-tenure line promotion process will be held on Monday, September 15th from 10 – 11:30 a.m..

This interactive workshop will provide guidance for faculty and staff tasked with developing outcomes assessment reports for SACSCOC accreditation. The workshop will emphasize submitting the first part of the report, which is due on September 30, 2025. This fall, the focus is on revising outcomes and methods based on the analysis of the results collected from 2024-2025. This workshop is designed to be a highly practical, hands-on training, so participants are encouraged work with draft documents of their own reports. The presenters will be available after the workshop for individual consultation as needed. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend the session that best fits the program they assess. However, much of the information covered in the sessions will be relatively similar, although the focus will be slightly different.

This workshop supports the university’s goal to provide the necessary services, resources, and infrastructure to support the university’s strategic direction by implementing effective planning and continuous improvement for SACSCOC reaffirmation.

Presented by:

Ms. Danielle Nied, Interim Director of Division Assessment and Planning, Division of Student Success

This session will support non-tenure line faculty through the process of developing a well-structured narrative summarizing their teaching philosophy, and accomplishments making the case for promotion outlined in AA/PPS No. 04.02.21. Narratives for promotion must highlight achievements from a faculty member’s initial appointment or last promotion to the time of submission of the current promotion packet. Participants will learn how to effectively showcase their contributions in teaching, scholarly and professional engagement, and service to prepare appropriate documentation for promotion.

While all faculty are welcome to attend, this session is tailored to non-tenure line faculty preparing to submit narratives for promotion.

If you missed our original session on non-tenure line promotion in May, you may refer to this FAQ document from the session for information on the promotion process. Another session on the non-tenure line promotion process will be held on Monday, September 15th from 10 – 11:30 a.m..
