In today's fast-paced and interconnected world, teachers are often faced with the challenge of addressing contestable issues with students who are curious about historical and current events as well as the public figures that accompany such narratives. This workshop aims to energize pre-service teachers to navigate these matters mindfully, fostering intellectual inquiry and cultural competence while maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment. Using a combination of interactive activities, attendees will leave the workshop equipped with practical tools and strategies to enhance their teaching skills in a modern-day context. Register here.
Presented by Dr. Marcus Johnson.

In this seminar, Dr. Lee O'Donnell will help us embark on an in-depth exploration of trauma-informed experiences and their profound influence on social mobility, enriched by the application of trauma-informed pedagogy. Our journey will be facilitated through an adaptation of C’est La Vie: The Game of Social Life, designed by Kosha D. Bramesfeld. This experiential activity will allow students to closely examine the interplay between trauma, systemic factors, and personal agency in shaping life outcomes. Register here.
