She/Her/Hers

Dr. Camrie Pipper is, first and foremost, a proud first-generation Bobcat, having earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in the Department of English at Texas State University. She went on to earn her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Postsecondary Student Success, and she is now Grant Director of the McNair Scholars Program at Texas State. With nearly 20 years in student success roles at the university, she previously served as Manager of the University Writing Center and Assistant Director of The Common Experience.

Dr. Pipper is a practitioner-scholar whose work centers first-generation and underserved students. Her research draws on asset-based frameworks, including Yosso's community cultural wealth and Rendón's validation theory. Her dissertation, From First to Alum, examines the experiences of first-generation Latina students at Hispanic-Serving Institutions and theorizes first-gen recognition ceremonies as sites of institutional validation.

Dr. Pipper has published in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored a chapter on student success. At McNair, she brings that same commitment to helping scholars recognize the strengths they already hold as they prepare for doctoral study and careers in research.
