Jonquil Murdoch

Jonquil serves as the Grant Director for Talent Search Austin at Texas State University, having previously supported the program as Grant Coordinator for nearly three years. She holds a B.S. in Psychology and a Master’s in Professional Counseling with a focus on Clinical Mental Health.

She brings a strong foundation in early childhood and K–12 teaching, grounding her work in a student‑centered and developmentally informed approach. Her professional background also includes supporting college students at the University Career Center, conducting career assessments, working with youth in a juvenile detention center, and experience in sales management. As a first‑generation college graduate, Jonquil is passionate about helping students navigate their own educational journeys. During graduate school, she served as President of the Sigma Tau Sigma chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, where she found fulfillment in building community and advocating for the counseling profession.

Outside of work, Jonquil enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and gardening. In her role as Grant Director, she looks forward to forming meaningful connections with students and supporting them as they pursue their goals.
