By submitting the form below, you're requesting consideration for placement in a Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 Teacher Residency.

The CI Department and Teacher Residency faculty will review your academic records and the information you provide here to make two determinations:

Are you eligible to enroll in these courses?
This includes screening to ensure that you (a) are declared in the appropriate degree program, (b) have been admitted to the Educator Preparation Program or have applied and are on track to be admitted when grades post, (c) have at least a 2.75 Overall GPA, and (d) have earned C's or better in all required prerequisite coursework or are currently enrolled and on track to do so this semester.

Unless otherwise specified, Field Blocks are unpaid experiences that take place on and off of Texas State's campus.

Reliable transportation to these locations is my responsibility. Transportation and/or financial challenges are not justification for having these courses waived or altered.

I agree that the Office of Educator Preparation and the Office of Registrar have permission to move me to the appropriate EDST roster in order for me to be on the roster designated for my supervisor, if necessary.

I acknowledge that I understand that I must be available for communication and other required clinical teaching activities up to four weeks before the start of the semester.

Information on Criminal History

If you are concerned about your criminal history (arrests, charges, convictions), go to the Texas Education Agency to secure a Preliminary Criminal History Evaluation. Depending on your results, you may need to meet with the Director, Office of Educator Preparation. [NOTE: This service requires a $50 non-refundable fee paid to the Texas Education Agency.] Districts may deny placement based on information from your criminal background check.

Certification Exam Requirements for Clinical Teaching

a. All students must complete the exam required for their certification area as designated in the link below during the first semester of Residency.

b. All students may need to complete the TExES 160 - Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) Exam during the last semester of Residency depending on performance.
