Interim Dean Elizabeth Hartwig
Elizabeth Kjellstrand Hartwig, PhD, LMFT-S, LPC-S, RPT-S

Welcome to the Texas State University College of Education. As Interim Dean, I am honored to serve a college with a rich tradition of preparing professionals who improve lives through education, leadership, counseling, health and wellness, and community engagement. Across the College, we are committed to enhancing human potential through excellent teaching, relevant scholarship, and meaningful partnerships. Together, we celebrate remarkable accomplishments, including robust doctoral and graduate education programs, extensive internship and residency partnerships across the state, a distinction as the number one university graduating Texas teachers, and innovative initiatives such as Bobcat RISE and TXST TRIO that expand access and opportunity for all learners.

The strength of our College is found in our three outstanding departments. The Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) continues Texas State's historic mission of preparing educators while advancing research, teacher development, and educational practices. Through nationally recognized field-based teacher preparation programs, strong school district partnerships, and undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and certification pathways, C&I prepares educators and scholars who make a difference in the lives of children across Texas and beyond. The Department of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education and School Psychology (CLAS) advances transformational change through programs in professional counseling, educational and community leadership, adult, professional, and community education, school psychology, student affairs, integrated studies, and human resource development. Through its broad portfolio of programs, CLAS develops leaders who strengthen schools, organizations, and communities locally and globally. The Department of Health and Human Performance (HHP) complements this work through its commitment to promoting health, human performance, and quality of life. Recognized nationally and internationally for impactful research in athletic training, exercise science, public health, and recreation, HHP provides students with valuable opportunities to engage in research, outreach, and community-focused initiatives.

As Interim Dean, I believe our greatest achievements emerge when we approach challenges with resiliency, embrace learning as a lifelong pursuit, and remain open to growth and exploration. These values shape how we teach, conduct research, engage with communities, and support one another. I invite you to join us in creating new possibilities, advancing knowledge, and preparing future generations of educators, counselors, leaders, and health professionals. Together, we will continue building a college where innovation thrives and every individual is empowered to reach their full potential. I invite you to explore our programs, meet our passionate community, and discover how your journey can thrive in the TXST College of Education!

Sincerely,
