If this is your first Academic Suspension, you have a few different options: Sit the next semester out and apply for readmission by the “returning students” deadline; enroll in summer coursework with TXST to raise your cumulative GPA to at least 2.0; or appeal for early reinstatement by following the form link above.
College of Education Undergraduate Majors Only
The request form below is only for declared majors within the College of Education. If your major falls under a different college, you must apply directly with that college. Use the following link to identify your College: Texas State University Major Directory. Undeclared majors must appeal directly to the University Advising Center.
Graduate students within the College of Education must contact the Graduate College for their appeal process.
Suspension Appeal Forms will only be accepted for Summer Term II 2026 Reinstatement until Tuesday, 6/18/26.
Suspension Appeal Forms will only be accepted for Fall 2026 Reinstatement until Thursday, 8/6/26.
Once you submit the Suspension Appeal form, you will be taken to a confirmation page where you must click on the booking link to SELECT AN AVAILABLE APPEAL APPOINTMENT matching the semester you are requesting for reinstatement.
If you have been suspended, be sure to read the university policy regarding suspensions, appeals, reinstatement from suspension, and readmission to the University. Application for readmission is separate from the appeal process and is required if you have not been enrolled at the University for at least one long semester (Spring and/or Fall).
REINSTATEMENT
Reinstatement is for students who have only been placed on academic suspension. There are three levels of academic suspension as detailed below.
First Academic Suspension
SECOND ACADEMIC SUSPENSION
If this is your second Academic Suspension, you have two options: Sit out the next two calendar years and apply for readmission by the “returning students” deadline, or apply for early reinstatement by following the form link above.
Third Academic Suspension
If you are suspended a third time, it indicates that TXST might not be a good fit. At that point, you will be suspended indefinitely and not given the option to reapply as a returning student. You can appeal to the College Dean for reinstatement, which could be considered under extreme circumstances. To request an appeal, follow the link to the form above.
The guidance here reflects the University’s academic standing policy. For any other questions or concerns about admissions or advising, you can contact the College of Education Advising Office at 512.245.3050.
