Texas State University has been awarded a $4.7 million Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant from the U.S. Department of Education to support low-income, Pell-eligible undergraduate student parents. The funding will provide childcare subsidies and comprehensive academic and mentoring support to 88 student parents, helping them persist to graduation while also advancing research to strengthen services for student parents.

Supporting Student-Parents in Higher Education

The Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Program is a federally funded initiative administered by the U.S. Department of Education that supports low‑income student-parents in pursuing postsecondary education. Through competitive grants, CCAMPIS enables institutions of higher education to provide campus-based child care services or subsidies, ensuring that students can balance academic responsibilities with family obligations.

Eligibility for CCAMPIS Program at Texas State University

• Pell Grant Eligible

• Undergraduate student at Texas State University who has not earned a bachelor’s degree

• GPA minimum 2.0

• Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters

• Be a parent or legal guardian responsible for a dependent child

• Child must attend an approved childcare provider
